For me, there really hasn’t been a lot of television on worth watching. Sure the Office is back and 30 Rock, outside of a mediocre return episode, hit its stride again this week with another fantastic episode. However, other than that and watching guys cutting down trees on Axe Men, I have had to look else where for entertainment. So like many young female high school grads, I headed to Hollywood to have my dreams come true. However, I didn’t end up like the Poison song “Mama’s Fallen Angel.” However tempting it was, I just could not roll “the dice of my life.”
So here are the movies I’ve watched and what I’ve thought about them:
BECOMING JANE. First of all I can’t really judge this too fairly as I am pretty much deaf in one ear, an there’s a lot of whispering going on in this movie. I don’t know why a lot of people in the 1800’s felt the need to whisper, but it doesn’t help me out much. Besides from that, its a total chick flick. I didn’t go to sleep during it, so I guess that’s good, but it really wasn’t my “cup of tea.” Overall, I give it a C.

JUNO. So I honestly didn’t know what it was about till I watched it. I knew there was a lot of Oscar buzz around it, and that I don’t much care for Ellen Page (basing this only on her SNL appearance). I really liked this movie. I thought it was pretty honest and a bit hokey at times, but overall, like Little Miss Sunshine, it’s one of those movies that’s hard not to like. I also have figured out 2 things.
A) Michael Cera is in EVERY new movie
B) Wherever Michael Cera is, Jason Bateman is surely close behind.
Overall it was a terrific film, that although it wasn’t Oscar worthy, I’d give it a strong B+
DAN IN REAL LIFE
Steve Carrell goes serious and stars with Dane Cook in this serious movie. That’s all you need to know. It’s cool when one comedian goes serious, but put two in there and this movie is getting flushed quick. It really should have been entitled “DAN IN REAL LIFE: IF REAL LIFE IS FULL OF HORRIBLY TENSE AND UNCOMFORTABLE MOMENTS!” I saw what they were trying to do here, but its nothing new in terms of romantic “comedies.” The only difference is that Drew Barrymore isn’t in this. Overall a meager C-.
I AM LEGEND
I thought this movie was going to be really cool. Will Smith alone in New York City hunting stuff down to just stay alive. However, the plot was terrible, and this coming from the guy that enjoys Full House reruns. Thee ending was unsatisfying and I felt that somebody owes me some money for making me watch this. I have no problems giving this movie a solid D.
OLD SCHOOL
While at my friend Dustins, I popped in this classic. Sure I’ve seen it about a billion times, but its a classic. This is some of Will Ferrell and Vince Vaughns best work. If you haven’t seen it, then you must run to blockbuster or to your Netflix cue list and get it because it will not disappoint. “I think what my friend is trying to say, is that true love is blind.”
Old School gets an A all the way!
So there’s the TVDeuce Movie Review Roundup. Thoughts? What’s out there that I need to watch?
