I was just flippin’ through the channels and came across the “N” Network. It’s targeted towards teens and guys that are almost 30 and kinda bored.
So I see one of these infamous Pro-Active Solution Ads. You know the stuff, it turns Jessica Simpson from disgusting over priced under talented singer into Tony Romo’s gal pal.
But it got me thinking. What happened to Stridex and Oxy? Don’t the kids “Oxycute” these blackheads anymore? All of a sudden today’s teens are too good for the alcohol drenched Stridex pads that made your face feel like the Hindenburg when you got through with them. I bet you if they had ads with Jennie Garth touting the beauty of Stridex pads the sales would increase by at least 3%. Think about it.
So down with “solutions” and bring back the burning zit pads that did nothing!!!!
So I’ve been on a bit of a Conway Twitty kick as of late. Not so much to listen to, but as a clever name to drop in conversations.
For instance, I was at my local Kia dealership checking out a ‘99 Kia Sportage. I only buy vintage cars. So the dealor told me the price was about $1500. I told him “Whoa Kyle, I don’t have that kind of money, who do you think I am, Conway Twitty?”
OR
When I went to a local pub and asked the bar keep for a “Conway Twitty on the Rocks.” He asked what it was and I said it’s like a Shirley Temple, but instead of 7Up you use Sprite.
OK, so neither of those events happened or make any logical sense, but I do think the name is funny, as are some of these vintage Conway Twitty images.
