11AugThe Deuce is Back: Here’s What You Missed!

OK, so TVDeuce has been down for a few weeks (thank you very much spammers, who link to viruses!) and I’m sure all of you are wondering:

Clint what’s been going on?

Well to tell you the truth, I haven’t watched a lot of TV lately.  I know that Mad Men and Rescue Me are back, but to be honest I haven’t been motivated to get back in and watch them.  Now I know what you’re thinking:
“Oh God, Has He Started Reading?”
Oh goodness no.  Actually, I shouldn’t say that I’ve given up TV.  To be honest I’ve just limited myself to a TON of Family Guy, Simpsons, and Flight of The Conchords Reruns.  It’s not exciting or newsworthy, but I’ve felt like I’ve needed to reacquaint myself with some old friends.  But I know your curious about my life the past few weeks so here’s an exciting recap of the past few weeks:

*I went to a town fair.  Now I’m not going to name the town, but this fair had TONS of white trash roaming around.  All the usual hallmarks were there: guys in wife beaters, girls with air brushed shirts, people who think the bigger the tattoo, the classier it is, Corona shirts, and my all time fav, THE FANNY PACK.  I’m not saying that the Fanny Pack isn’t practical.  In fact the multi-zippered ones could be a chain smoking photographer’s best friend.  But when a lady with more kids than teeth is wearing it and digging through her singles to see if she’s got enough to get a characterature of herself riding a buckin’ bull is your spokeswoman, then maybe its not such a good style to go with.  Also they had a guy selling dream catchers.  Which made me think of my all-time favorite Demetri Martin joke “Dream catchers work, if your dream is to be gay.”

*I went to a birthday party for a 40 something and all their friends.  Yeah, that was fun, if you’re idea of fun is watching middle age guys throwing back rolling rock and listening to their wives talk about how they don’t care what anybody says, Dee Snyder is still sexy!  You know you’re out of place when that one guy (his name is Pete) keeps pointing out how calm the night is because the tiki torches aren’t flickering!   And if you’ve never been to one of these functions, be prepared to hear Hotel California being repeated until you start see abortions of Don Henley appearing by those ever so still tiki torch flames.

*I went to the UConn surplus store.  I got some cool clothes but missed out on this sweet bubble wrap role.

*I got a new 3G IPhone.  Yeah, it’s that damn good.

*I’ve decided that if I’m going to borrow anything from rap music, it’s to call my next girl “my boo.”  I’m not really sure if its offensive, but I’m going with it!

*Finally, in TV news.  I was driving home from Hershey last week when I noticed a couple of guys on motorcycles.  But the motorcycles were BMW’s and they all this equipment on them.  So I was like “I wonder if that’s Alton Brown filming Feasting on Asphalt.  So I drove up and checked it out and sure enough he had a camera on his head and it was him.  I waived hello, fell back behind him and shot this pic of him (I SWEAR IT’S HIM) with the aforementioned IPhone.

Well that’s about it for now, I’m just excited the site is back up!  Lots more to come this week.

25JunThe Cleveland Show Will Be Terrible

If you haven’t heard, Family Guy is spinning off with a new show this mid-season entitled “The Cleveland Show” which will follow the life of Cleveland Brown as he leaves Quahog. Here’s a trailor:

Spinning off Family Guy: Wonderfully great proposition.
Using Cleveland As The Spinoff: A Worse Decision than the guy that decided Jewel’s Snaggletooth wouldn’t distract her listeners.

I just have never found Cleveland to be a particularly deep or likeable character. I equate this to The Simpsons creating a spinoff around Mrs. Hoover (Lisa’s Second Grade Teacher) or The Office creating a Spinoff based on Oscar.

Although, I will say that no matter how bad the Cleveland show is bound to be (did I mention talking bears live next door?) it will certainly be better than American Dad. I think that the Facts of Life SpinOff of Blair’s cousin Gerry was better than American Dad.
So it was a noble idea, but not one that I have high hopes for.
