02JunThe Last Two Weeks In Bullet Form!

  • It was awesome that LOST came back with a great season finale.  As a whole the show has rebounded nicely, and is actually giving us viewers the info we desire, while giving more questions.  Ben is by far my favorite character.  He’s got the whole creepy Kevin Spacey vibe going on.  I still hate Matthew Fox though.  Anybody with that kind of “Holier Than Thou” attitude needs to be put in their place.  And that list includes Alan Thicke and Lorenzo Lamas.
  • Mad Men comes back on real soon, which is good news if you love great television.  But if you’re one of those people that hates high quality television, don’t fret E! and The CW will still be there producing mind numbing summer shows.
  • I’ve gone back and rewatched Flight of the Conchords.  In a word: BRILLIANT.  To bad NBC couldn’t snag it, as it would be a perfect Scrubs replacement.
  • HBO’s RECOUNT movie was better than I expected.  If I were compare it to a vegetable, it would be as good as cabbage, but absolutely not in the upper tier like carrots and celery.
  • ROCKET SCIENCE is one of the best movies I’ve watched this year, and I’ve even rewatched Crocodile Dundee a few times, so that tells ya’ something.  If you like Juno, or movies that don’t star Will Ferrell, then this might be for you.
  • Gentleman, you should check out Darjeeling Limited.  Good flick, but very dry.
  • Did I mention how good clicking my ads makes you feel.
  • I hate shameless self promotions.
  • Summer Television makes me depressed.  Not “listening to Radiohead” depressed, but more like “I reached into a tube of Pringles and there was nothing” depressed.
  • Finally, sorry for the lack of updates, nothing really inspired me to write, but I did play an inning and a half of wiffle ball.  I  hit a triple and struck out two.  Damn fine performance, if I do say so myself!

SO DOES ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING GOOD THAT I SHOULD BE WATCHING?

25FebABC To Go Ad-Demand

TVSquad had an article today about how ABC is going to let their local channels put many of their “hit” shows On-Demand.  The catch however, is that users won’t be able to fast forward through ads in the program.  This way they appease fans, who want to be able to watch shows they missed, without having to go into the seedy world of torrents and rar files, while still generating money off anyone silly enought to have a desire of watching Steve Guttenberg doing the hustle.

At first I was real ticked off by this.  I’m a DVR snob.  I’m proud to admit that me and my DVR pared down the E! Red Carpet coverage from 2 hours to about 10 minutes.  (Ironically, I’m very ashamed of myself for even tuning in)  So ABC doing this made me feel like they were taking away the only semblance of control that I have left in the world.  The DVR and what extra value meal I order are the final frontier of decision making left for a married guy with a kid.  I think women in communist countries get more choices than I do.

However, I fully support the move.  First of all, with seasons passes, if you miss a show, you should be punished.  Forgot to hit the record button?  Then you gotta endure 30 seconds of the Caveman in the airport for Geico.  Fair trade.  I wish the music industry would adopt something like that.  I’ll gladly listen to that old guy tell me how good Smuckers Jams are in exchange for a Michael Buble single.

So hopefully this a trend that many of the other networks follow.  Just remember, watching American car companies trying to convince you that their cars are not inferior to foreign makers is worth trading for J.J. Abrams trying to stretch Lost out by consistently adding more characters and unanswered questions!
