13SepA Big Ole Update

Sorry for the lack of updates, but life has been busy lately!  So let’s get started!

*Season 2 of Mad Men is absolutely fantastic!  Who wouldn’t love to be Don Draper?  Actually, if I had to be anybody from the show it would be his white hair, slick boss (I believe it’s Roger Sterling, but it could be Cooper).  Needless to say, its quality television and the type of show that the big networks should focus on making.

*If you have an iphone, the world’s best application is Photoswap.  Basically, you snap a picture and it automatically swaps it with another picture taken somewhere in the world.  You’re then given the option of replying to that picture.  I’ve actually had some pretty funny conversations with it and was even introduced to a rather “voyerific” couple.  It is really addicting and has become the hit of lunch time at my school.

*I’ve watched 3 movies today.  First was Cable Guy, which I swear is funnier every time I see it.  I hated it at first, but its really grown on me.  Then I watched No Country For Old Men.  Absolutely brilliant, but I hated the ending.  But its a Cohen Bros. film so I expect that!  Finally, I watched Own The Night.  I loved this movie, it was a great cop flick.  Plus Phoenix and Walhberg are the two biggest badasses in Hollywood.   I think I would most want to be Walhberg, maybe its because of the “good vibrations” or the fact that he’s small and doesn’t take shit from anyone!

*Tina Fey is going to play Sarah Palin on SNL.  Good call, but something tells me that Kristen Wiig must have really sucked big time at playing her if they’re going back to Fey to play her.

*Has anyone used the Comcast Tivo?  I’m dying to know if its worth the upgrade.

*I’m reading a book right now called “Lies My History Teacher Told Me.”  It’s been very fascinating, like did you know that Helen Keller was a socialist?  Also, she once lost her hand while driving.  She tried to read the Stop sign while going 50 mph!!!  Hi-Ohhhh!!!!!

03JunDVD REVIEW: SEMI PRO

SEMI PRO

I didn’t watch the end.  Not because the power went out.  Not because I got the Red Ring of Death on my XBOX, Not because Dave Coulier was doing an impromptu stand up gig on my deck.  Nope.  It was because this movie was dreadfully awful.

Wait, that’s not fair.

Will Arnett was very funny.

But as for the rest of the movie, I find the Ebola Virus, Jimmy Fallon and The Lonesome Dove Episodic series to be funnier than this movie was.  It was way too much of Will Ferrell.  If you’re looking for a movie that makes you regret the last 90 minutes of your life, then by all means rent it, other wise save that time for something useful like building ships in bottles.

02JunThe Last Two Weeks In Bullet Form!

  • It was awesome that LOST came back with a great season finale.  As a whole the show has rebounded nicely, and is actually giving us viewers the info we desire, while giving more questions.  Ben is by far my favorite character.  He’s got the whole creepy Kevin Spacey vibe going on.  I still hate Matthew Fox though.  Anybody with that kind of “Holier Than Thou” attitude needs to be put in their place.  And that list includes Alan Thicke and Lorenzo Lamas.
  • Mad Men comes back on real soon, which is good news if you love great television.  But if you’re one of those people that hates high quality television, don’t fret E! and The CW will still be there producing mind numbing summer shows.
  • I’ve gone back and rewatched Flight of the Conchords.  In a word: BRILLIANT.  To bad NBC couldn’t snag it, as it would be a perfect Scrubs replacement.
  • HBO’s RECOUNT movie was better than I expected.  If I were compare it to a vegetable, it would be as good as cabbage, but absolutely not in the upper tier like carrots and celery.
  • ROCKET SCIENCE is one of the best movies I’ve watched this year, and I’ve even rewatched Crocodile Dundee a few times, so that tells ya’ something.  If you like Juno, or movies that don’t star Will Ferrell, then this might be for you.
  • Gentleman, you should check out Darjeeling Limited.  Good flick, but very dry.
  • Did I mention how good clicking my ads makes you feel.
  • I hate shameless self promotions.
  • Summer Television makes me depressed.  Not “listening to Radiohead” depressed, but more like “I reached into a tube of Pringles and there was nothing” depressed.
  • Finally, sorry for the lack of updates, nothing really inspired me to write, but I did play an inning and a half of wiffle ball.  I  hit a triple and struck out two.  Damn fine performance, if I do say so myself!

SO DOES ANYONE HAVE ANYTHING GOOD THAT I SHOULD BE WATCHING?
