So the other day I was surfing online and saw that the SmartCar ONLY gets about 40 mpg on the highway. I say ONLY, because if you haven’t seen the SmartCar it can either be called one of two things: 1) A lawn mower with a roof
2) Erkel’s car.
Now the other thing that took me aback was that these little things run in the neighborhood of 13 to 15k. For about 3k more you can get a Civic, which is just a few mpg less than the SmartCar and people won’t point at you and call you a “tree huggin’ tool.”
Is the SmartCar really that Smart with only 2 seats? Don’t worry, unless you’re a Hollywood big shot proving to everyone that reads People, that you’re “environmentally friendly,” you probably don’t need to worry about toting a bunch of friends along. Something tells me that you’re on the lookout for a few friends, as you feel the need to drive something that screams “Hey world, look at me! I’m not worthless afterall!”
Although I do have to admit, that even with the great safety rating, I would pay some serious duckets to see a SmartCar get sideswiped by an F250. You know, just for the fun of it! Kinda the way I enjoyed watching King Kong Bundy take on that gaggle of midgets in WrestleMania 3.
Now on to some TV…
SNL was pretty good yesterday, and we got to see Justin Timberlake come on for a few spots. First, let me say that I think if you met him, you’d probably need some Charmin cause he has to be a huge a-hole in person. BUT, I would still hang out with him, cause damn he’s funny. Not Ashton, I think I’m more important and cool than anyone else, but actually very quick and funny. Too bad he had to bail on next week’s show. Even worse, is that we get Tim McGraw hosting the show. But hey, I’m sure Red Neck Hospital will be back. But meanwhile, enjoy this JT clip…
By now you’ve seen the infamous (and extraordinarily well done) clip of Tina Fey nailing a brilliant impersonation of Sarah Palin on SNL on Saturday Night. But what got overshadowed was Michael Phelps HORRIFIC performance on SNL. I’m not saying it was terrible, but the sketches he was in are making Vin Diesel look robbed for not taking home an Oscar.
Most appalling was how they basically stuck Phelps in the locker room for the same damn sketch Peyton Manning was in. Something tells me that little weasel of a head writer, Seth Myers, was behind that. I gotta wait months for a new SNL and I essentially get a rerun sketch.
Phelps had a short monologue and read of the cue cards worse than Christopher Walken. Lets just this fish, was out of water! (That would be my snobby, NYT-esque one liner!)
But on a good note there was a bizarre SNL Digital Short featuring Adam Sandler lite: Andy Samberg. Here it is. Pretty good. Video Below…
This post is dedicated to Mrs. Garcia for complaining that I don’t write enough!
Sorry for the lack of updates, but life has been busy lately! So let’s get started!
*Season 2 of Mad Men is absolutely fantastic! Who wouldn’t love to be Don Draper? Actually, if I had to be anybody from the show it would be his white hair, slick boss (I believe it’s Roger Sterling, but it could be Cooper). Needless to say, its quality television and the type of show that the big networks should focus on making.
*If you have an iphone, the world’s best application is Photoswap. Basically, you snap a picture and it automatically swaps it with another picture taken somewhere in the world. You’re then given the option of replying to that picture. I’ve actually had some pretty funny conversations with it and was even introduced to a rather “voyerific” couple. It is really addicting and has become the hit of lunch time at my school.
*I’ve watched 3 movies today. First was Cable Guy, which I swear is funnier every time I see it. I hated it at first, but its really grown on me. Then I watched No Country For Old Men. Absolutely brilliant, but I hated the ending. But its a Cohen Bros. film so I expect that! Finally, I watched Own The Night. I loved this movie, it was a great cop flick. Plus Phoenix and Walhberg are the two biggest badasses in Hollywood. I think I would most want to be Walhberg, maybe its because of the “good vibrations” or the fact that he’s small and doesn’t take shit from anyone!
*Tina Fey is going to play Sarah Palin on SNL. Good call, but something tells me that Kristen Wiig must have really sucked big time at playing her if they’re going back to Fey to play her.
*Has anyone used the Comcast Tivo? I’m dying to know if its worth the upgrade.
*I’m reading a book right now called “Lies My History Teacher Told Me.” It’s been very fascinating, like did you know that Helen Keller was a socialist? Also, she once lost her hand while driving. She tried to read the Stop sign while going 50 mph!!! Hi-Ohhhh!!!!!
